Sankri is a beautiful town at an altitude of 6,455 Ft. from Dehradun in Uttarkashi District. It is situated in the Tons Valley in the great perspectives of the snow-clad Himalayas. Sankri is the beautiful point to the picturesque valley of Har-ki-Dun in Uttarakhand state. Sankri is the base camp for Kedarkantha trek is found only a couple of hundred meters far from Sankri in Sond town. The Sankari Village is the last road head to the Govind Balabh Pant Wildlife Sanctuary. The village offers ecstatic views of the Himalayan skyline and a plethora of mountain peaks, gazing at you from a distance. Serene Vistas of Kedarkanth and Yamunotri peaks, mystic landscapes, pine forests, rivers like Yamuna, ton, Kedarganga, etc. Himalayan roads accompany you through the journey. The aerial view of this hilly-village looks splendid with the house roofs looking like small umbrellas on a sloping mountain. It is a visual treat to see a hamlet with the background of majestic mountains. The Sankri Range is also home to hundreds of ancient villages such as Taluka, Osla, Seema, Sirgi, Saud, Jakhol, etc. These villages give us a close look into the life, culture and traditions of the local inhabitants.
